My secret eating is no more, I no longer hide food in bags, drawers or the back of the cupboard. The cycle that started with my mum has been broken and it fills my heart with joy that my daughter will not follow in my footsteps. Food no longer has a hold over me, my mood and how I feel about myself. Food no longer has the power to cause me to feel those feelings of shame, disgust or disappointment.

The word and the mantra that I take away from our journey is acceptance – I accept myself as I am. Right now, not when ‘I am X.’ I am worthy of everything that comes my way and I deserve this.
